Yacht charter Bahamas
The Bahamas is the best cruising ground within reach of the US East Coast, and it is not close. Seven hundred islands, water that reads from the deck like a swimming pool, and in the Exumas a chain of cays running a hundred miles southeast of Nassau that has no real equivalent anywhere: sand bars that appear at low tide, swimming pigs, Thunderball Grotto, and anchorages where yours is the only boat. This is a week aboard, not a day.
Every rate on this page is the rate we hold. We publish weekly rates for the crewed yachts that cruise the Bahamas, from €70,000 per week plus expenses, and day rates for the Florida boats that run Bimini and Bahamas crossings from €5,244. If a yacht is not listed here we can usually still get it: message us with the dates and we come back with what is free.
Most crewed charters start in Nassau, with the yacht already in the Exumas or one short hop from them, and the week runs down the chain to Staniel Cay, Compass Cay and Great Exuma. A foreign flagged charter yacht in the Bahamas pays a charter fee plus VAT on the charter, and the quote shows both before you commit.

Where you actually go
The reason to come. Highbourne, Norman's, Shroud Cay and the land and sea park in the north; Staniel Cay, the pigs at Big Major and Thunderball Grotto in the middle; Compass Cay and the sandbars toward Great Exuma in the south. A week is the right length, and most of it is spent at anchor in water you can see the bottom of at sixty feet.
The start point and the airport. Most crewed weeks board at a Nassau or Paradise Island marina and leave the same afternoon; the island itself is a one night stop, not the destination.
The northern alternative, closer to Florida and a gentler, more sheltered cruising ground: Hope Town and its lighthouse, Man O War, Green Turtle Cay and the reef. Popular for families and for crossings from Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
Fifty miles off Miami, a sportboat run across the Gulf Stream for the day or an overnight, with the clearest water in easy reach of Florida. Several of the Miami and Fort Lauderdale day boats on this site run it regularly.
Crewed weeks: 5 yachts cruising Bahamas
These are full week charters on the yacht's own charter terms, contracted with the yacht's own management. Bahamas is one stop in a wider season for most of them, Caribbean in winter and Florida or New England in summer, so a week can start here and finish somewhere else entirely. Bahamas charter questions
How much does a yacht charter in the Bahamas cost?+
Crewed weekly yachts cruising the Bahamas start at €70,000 per week plus expenses on the yacht's own charter terms. Running costs, fuel, food, drink and mooring, are handled through an advance provisioning allowance, usually twenty five to thirty five per cent of the fee, accounted for by the captain and refunded if unspent. Day boats crossing from Florida run from €5,244. Every number on this page is the operator rate we hold.
Do I need a licence to charter in the Bahamas?+
Not for anything on this page. Every yacht listed here comes with its own professional crew. Bareboat charter without crew is a different product and is not what we offer.
When is the best time to charter in the Bahamas?+
December to May. The water is clearest, the weather is settled and the whole fleet is in the islands. Christmas, New Year and the spring holiday weeks book out first. June to November is hurricane season; the early summer can still be lovely but we plan and insure around it.
Where does a Bahamas charter start and end?+
Usually Nassau, which has the airport and the marinas, and sometimes Great Exuma in the south or a Florida port for a one way with the crossing built in. Tell us where you want to fly in and out and we shape the week around it.
What taxes and fees apply to a Bahamas charter?+
A foreign flagged yacht chartering in Bahamian waters pays a charter fee and VAT on the charter, and the yacht needs a cruising permit. These are set out in the quote as separate lines, never hidden in the rate. If the yacht is Bahamian registered the structure differs, and we explain it per boat.
Can you do the Bahamas as a day trip from Miami?+
Bimini, yes, on the right boat: two to three hours each way across the Gulf Stream, with clearance on arrival, so it is an early start and a long day. The Exumas, no. They are a hundred and fifty miles further and deserve a week.
